A message to parents
Sometimes it can be quite daunting to have your children learning a new language, as you might feel you will not be able to help with homework or learning. Hopefully you will find some tips below to help you :
- It always helps to ask your child what she learnt today in French class. It helps the child going over what she is now able to do in French.
- Ask your child to teach you something sh learnt that day. She will be able to understand and explain what she has learnt herself.
- Always encourage the speaking of French - sometimes you might hear mistakes but that's part of learning a language.
- Take an interest in her homework. Discuss what she finds hard to do (writing sentences; spelling...) and discuss ways off improving. (see the page: pour les élèves).
- Encourage your child to look at websites for extra material, extra listening, etc... (see our page: ressources en ligne)
- Remember that a language is alive and needs to be heard. It evolves and regular learning is key to make quick progress.
Encourage your children to take an interest in French culture maybe through cooking or films.
